The death of Father Christmas
Emily: “If Father Christmas dies, how will all the presents get delivered to all the children? Because it will take a very long time to get another Father Christmas.”
Me: “Hmmm. Good point. I don’t know. Perhaps ask your school teachers about that.”
Emily: “My teachers probably don’t know either.”
Me: “Yes, they might not.”
Emily: “Perhaps the elves could do it.”
Me (being slightly hard of hearing): “Owls? — what owls?”
Emily: “The Elves! The ones who make all the presents. Perhaps as well as making all the presents, the Elves could also deliver them.”
Me: “Ah yes, I expect that is how they would deal with it. I expect your teachers would be interested to hear how you think they would deal with it.”
Emily: “Yes, probably.”
